Cardiovascular disorders are a major issue in industrialized countries worldwide. Many lifestyle changes and non-pharmacological approaches are now being explored to counteract atherosclerotic impairment of blood vessels and subsequent cardiac dysfunction. Bergamot derivatives represent a new class of plant extracts that have been proven to produce consistent benefits in protecting vascular and heart function. Both pre-clinical and clinical studies revealed that the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of bergamot extract may represent a successful approach in supporting cardiometabolic health.
