N.O.Max®

N.O.Max® combines Bergamot Polyphenolic Fraction Gold® with L-citrulline in a purpose-built ingredient for nitric oxide availability, vascular function, endurance, and sports performance.

A Dual-Pathway Approach to
Nitric Oxide & Performance

Conventional nitric oxide ingredients typically focus on providing a precursor for NO production. N.O.Max® takes a broader approach by combining L-citrulline, which supports the L-arginine nitric oxide pathway, with bergamot polyphenols that provide antioxidant and endothelial support. The result is a specialized ingredient designed to support both nitric oxide production and the vascular environment in which nitric oxide functions.

Evidence Spotlight:
Research Supporting N.O.Max®

N.O.Max® was directly evaluated in a three-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study involving 90 trained male athletes. Researchers compared placebo, BPFG alone, L-citrulline alone and multiple BPFG + L-citrulline combinations, allowing the finished combination to be evaluated against its individual components. The study examined nitric oxide release, endothelial-dependent vascular responsiveness, oxidative stress and exercise-performance physiology.

Study note: The 2025 study was a pilot trial conducted in trained male athletes and evaluated multiple BPFG + L-citrulline dose combinations. Findings are specific to the studied formulations, doses and population; the authors noted that larger studies are needed to confirm the results.

Supporting Vascular Function & Exercise Performance

N.O.Max® connects nitric oxide physiology with measurable areas of vascular and physical performance. Its direct human research evaluated both endothelial measures and objective exercise endpoints, creating a broader performance story than a conventional ingredient positioned primarily around a workout “pump.”

Why Formulators Choose N.O.Max®

N.O.Max® was developed for formulators who want to move beyond a precursor-only nitric oxide strategy. By combining L-citrulline with concentrated bergamot polyphenols, N.O.Max® addresses both NO production and the oxidative and endothelial environment that can influence NO bioavailability. Most importantly, the finished combination itself has been clinically evaluated against its individual components, providing direct evidence for the formulation strategy.

Formulating With N.O.Max®

Clinical Positioning

N.O.Max® is especially relevant to formulations where nitric oxide support needs to connect to meaningful physiological performance measures rather than simply a subjective pump story. Its direct athlete study evaluated NO release and endothelial function alongside cardiorespiratory and exercise-performance endpoints.

Because its mechanism is not based on central nervous system stimulation, N.O.Max® can provide a performance-focused option for products where caffeine or other stimulants are not desired.

Formulation Fit

The commercial N.O.Max® ingredient is specified as 65% fermented, plant-based L-citrulline with 15% flavanones from Citrus bergamia Risso fruit extract, with a recommended dosage range of 1,500 to 3,000 mg daily.
  • Pre-workout formulations
  • Endurance and aerobic-performance products
  • Cycling and running formulas
  • Non-stimulant sports nutrition
  • Cardiorespiratory-performance products
  • Healthy circulation formulations

Frequently Asked Questions

What is N.O.Max®?

N.O.Max® is a proprietary combination of BPF Gold® bergamot polyphenols and L-citrulline developed for nitric oxide availability, endothelial function, circulation and sports performance.

Conventional products often rely primarily on an amino-acid precursor. N.O.Max® combines L-citrulline with BPF Gold® and has direct human research comparing the combination with its individual components.

Yes. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study evaluated N.O.Max® in 90 trained male athletes for three months, measuring nitric oxide, vascular responsiveness and several objective exercise-performance parameters.

No. Its scientific rationale centers on nitric oxide, vascular function, antioxidant support and oxygen utilization rather than central nervous system stimulation.
